In the Tokyo gubernatorial election, incumbent Yuriko Koike (71) won a third term with over 2.91 million votes. Koike's total vote count was 2,918,015 (42.77%), which is about 740,000 fewer votes than in the 2020 Tokyo gubernatorial election. The runner-up was former mayor of Akitakata City in Hiroshima Prefecture, Shinji Ishimaru (41), with 1,658,363 votes (24.30%), followed by former Constitutional Democratic Party member of the House of Councillors, Renho (56), with 1,283,262 votes (18.81%).
Koike secured more votes than any other candidate in all 62 municipalities in Tokyo. Notably, in the island areas and western Tama region, her vote share ranged from 50% to 60%, while in Adachi Ward, Edogawa Ward, and Katsushika Ward, she recorded over 45%. On the other hand, her vote share was lower in areas such as Shibuya Ward, Meguro Ward, and Musashino City.
