Following the conclusion of the sequel "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny," news of a theatrical adaptation in 2006 was announced. However, due to various factors, it was postponed, and the possibility of a film adaptation seemed to fade away. However, in 2021, a new project was launched, and the production of the theatrical version was announced as a reality.

Under the title "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom," a project is currently underway, including new footage. Sunrise, aiming not to disappoint the expectations of the fans, plans to sequentially release seven compilation films of "Gundam SEED" and "Gundam SEED Destiny" from August to November 2023, with the theatrical version scheduled for release in January 2024.

Led by director Mitsuo Fukuda, this project, which has started moving after years of dormancy, brings together skilled staff and screenplay writers who will maintain the original essence. Many people are eagerly anticipating what kind of impact it will bring to the fans.
